Short Walks 02:52
tumbled into this life stuck in it like velcro keep peeling back the edges wonder what will unfold it’s not like I planned it buildings stacked all above me covered in branches getting used to this city how many short walks to make this place feel like home? I don’t know things started feeling familiar maybe I’m getting older? who knows we used to walk in the same circles pass through the same spaces we used to listen to same old songs imagine far away places take me back to my comfort warm my feet on the ground wrap up the signs it’s abandoned clichés holding me down we didn’t count for this one it happened by accident but I’ve steadied my footing laid turf out back I’ll take what life throws me if it’s what I have to do keep safe the stories, songs and memories of you it's not like I planned it

another year, another move say goodbye to what you’ve just began to build say goodbye to the little cat that used to visit us we are their inconvenience we are the shit beneath their shoe we get what we’re given and we should be grateful for that and I am grateful, oh so grateful but not for their generosity not for their compassion or lack of it leave it to the market what can’t be monetised has no worth this is their world we’re just renting place all my products in a row white and orange white and orange don’t want to have to go please excuse the retching I want to throw up all over you you can tell your dry cleaner it’s an occupational hazard

there’s a lump in my throat causing me discomfort there’s a crick in my neck from my heavy head my brain’s trying to deny it concentrating on my dialect best have a sit down or get back into bed and it’s not like you don’t listen and it’s not like I’m not trying I don’t like to get my legs out in the summer there’s a host of complications I’d rather not disclose but right now I’m I feeling just fine so let’s run down to the shoreline get stones stuck between our toes and it’s not like you don’t listen and it’s not like I’m not trying some days I feel incomprehensible our minds are unreliable but you are so dependable depend on me rely on me there’s a spelk in my gut causing me discomfort there’s a break in my heart from things that you once said my brain's trying to deny it concentrating on my dialect best have a sit down or get back into bed

take a photo, it will last longer this shelter won’t be here forever when only parliamentary services pass through these days from Shippea Hill to Bescar Lane I’ll utilise rarely used lines up across the bridge and I’ll be on my way because you’ve got to have something to keep dark clouds away to keep that looming sense of doubt and hopelessness at bay you’ve got to have something or else we might as well call it a night and if we fail, we fail but that’s alright success is overrated at least the way that you define it another relegation another twenty-odd platforms to alight at so take me to the middle of nowhere and let me know when we get there and let me know if it’s a request only stop if we fail, we fail but that’s alright at least we tried one service in the morning one service in the evening there’s not a lot to do and a while until I’m leaving there’s still a lot of parts of the country I’ve not seen yet there’s still a lot of hope and there’s still a lot of regret
